You are most likely aware that residential households in thirteen states and the District of Columbia can purchase their electricity from a third party provider other than their local utility. All of these alternative suppliers are for-profit entities. Charity+Power was formed as a public benefit corporation and our members are offered the opportunity to donate a portion of their utility bill to a school, religious organization, or community institution that they want to support. We guarantee a portion of your donor’s utility bill (identified in the rate plan selected by your donor) will be donated to your organization. You will receive a guaranteed portion of your donor’s utility bill as long as your donor continues their enrollment with Charity+Power. Our goal is to offer competitive rates, recover our cost of providing utility services, and donate a guaranteed portion of the donor’s utility bill to the member’s designated charity.
You can participate in this opportunity now by visiting our website and registering your organization. Your donor base (and hopefully others) will then be able to select your organization to receive the guaranteed portion of their utility bill. We also intend to give you access to your account so you can identify our members that have selected your organization and allow you to track your donations. All registered 501(c)(3) organizations are eligible to participate.
We would also be available to work with your organization in reaching your donor base and informing them that they can contribute a portion of their electric bill to you. We have contracted with Poplabs, in Houston TX, and Ignite Marketing, in Cincinnati, OH, to work with our non-profit organizations to design marketing materials that would be tailored to reach your donor base. We do not want anyone’s donor contact information, so the marketing materials would be turned over to you to distribute to your donor base as you deem appropriate. None of your donors will be independently solicited by us or otherwise contacted.
